Die Pflege, Weiterentwicklung und der Betrieb erfolgen für bis zu 10 Jahre nach Gesamtabnahme. Der Auftrag umfasst die Lieferung und Installation von Validatoren in 406 Stadtbahnfahrzeugen (insgesamt 1.624 Validatoren), 429 Bussen (insgesamt 858 Validatoren) für die Gesamtfahrzeugflotte der KVB AG sowie deren Tochtergesellschaft Schilling Omnibus Verkehr (SOV) GmbH, sowie 8 Validatoren für Testanlagen. Zusätzlich sind 505 optionale Validatoren für Erweiterungen und bereits geplante Fahrzeugneubeschaffungen vorgesehen. Die Beauftragung dieser optionalen Validatoren erfolgt nach Bedarf und Ermessen des Auftraggebers. Das System muss die Verarbeitung kontaktloser Open-Loop EMV-Medien (insbesondere Mastercard und VISA), Closed-Loop EMV-Medien sowie girocard jeweils in physischer und digitaler Form als Zahlungs- und Identifikationsmedium unterstützen. Die Closed-Loop EMV-Medien sind im Rahmen des Auftrags durch den Auftragnehmer zu liefern. Die KVB beabsichtigt zunächst den Betrieb im Modell „Known Fare Transaction“ (KFT). Darüber hinaus muss das System die spätere Einführung eines „Pay-as-you-go“-Modells (PAYG) mit Fahrtenaggregation und Bestpreisberechnung unterstützen. Das Hintergrundsystem hat insbesondere Funktionen zur Zahlungsabwicklung, Kartenkontoverwaltung für Closed-Loop-Medien sowie Kunden- und Administrationsportale bereitzustellen.
