Ziel ist die zentrale, leistungsfähige und hochverfügbare Absicherung sowie Steuerung des Netzwerkverkehrs. Die Firewall dient insbesondere der zentralen Kontrolle und Filterung des Datenverkehrs zwischen internen und externen Netzen sowie dem Schutz der IT-Infrastruktur vor unberechtigten Zugriffen und Netzwerkangriffen. Der Load Balancer soll zur Verteilung eingehender Netzwerk- und Anwendungsanfragen auf mehrere Server bzw. Dienste eingesetzt werden. Dadurch sollen die Verfügbarkeit, Ausfallsicherheit und Skalierbarkeit zentral bereitgestellter IT-Dienste hergestellt werden.
