Ziel ist dabei, die Vernetzung auf Grundlage aktueller Standards ausfallsicher, aktuell und leistungsfähig zu gestalten und weiter auszubauen. Weiterhin hat die IT den Auftrag alle Dienststellen der Landkreisverwaltung mit einem öffentlichen WLAN auszustatten. Aktuell sind bereits ca. 80 % der Gebäude ausgestattet. Es soll eine Rahmenvereinbarung zur Neu- und Ersatzbeschaffung von Extreme Netzwerk-komponenten geschlossen werden. Die in den Leistungsverzeichnis ausgeschriebenen Produkte bzw. Systeme werden hersteller-spezifisch ausgeschrieben, da aus technischen, wirtschaftlichen und betrieblichen Gründen die Kompatibilität mit den bereits vorhandenen Anlagen- und Systemstrukturen sicherstellt werden muss.
