Die Unterwerke Mainzer Straße (UW 11), Rathaus (UW 12) und Hauptbahnhof (UW 13) sind Bestandteil der 750-V-DC-Bahnstromversorgung der Saarbahn Netz GmbH. Aufgrund der Abkündigung wesentlicher elektrotechnischer Komponenten und der eingeschränkten Ersatzteilverfügbarkeit sind Modernisierungs- und Teilerneuerungsmaßnahmen an den DC-Schaltanlagen, der Steuerungs- und Fernwirktechnik sowie den Nebenbetrieben erforderlich. Ziel der Maßnahme ist die langfristige Sicherstellung der Betriebs- und Versorgungssicherheit der Anlagen. Die Leistungen umfassen insbesondere die Erneuerung ausgewählter Schaltanlagenkomponenten, Steuerungs- und Meldeeinrichtungen sowie Anpassungen an den Energieversorgungsanlagen. Nähere Angaben zum Leistungsumfang, den technischen Anforderungen und den Ausführungsbedingungen sind den Vergabeunterlagen bzw. dem Leistungsverzeichnis (LV) zu entnehmen.
