From the notice

Die NRW.URBAN GmbH & Co. KG beabsichtigt den Neubau eines Gebäudes einschließlich technischer Ausrüstung und zugehöriger Außenanlagen für die Unterbringung der Forschungsfertigung Batteriezelle (FFB) am Standort Münster. Hierbei handelt die Auftraggeberin treuhänderisch für das Land Nordrhein-Westfalen, welches das Bauvorhaben mit Landesmitteln finanziert. Als Betreiberin der FFB und Nutzerin des Neubaus ist die Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der angewandten Forschung e.V. (FhG) vorgesehen.

    Das Bauvorhaben ist eingebunden in das Projekt "Forschungsfertigung Batteriezelle FFB". Auftrag der FFB ist es, die Rahmenbedingungen für den Aufbau einer Batteriezellproduktion in Deutschland zu entwickeln. Die FFB wird in zwei Bauabschnitten realisiert. In einem 1. Bauabschnitt (PreFab) wird Batteriezellforschung mit Erprobungs- und Musterlinien betrieben. Im 2. Bauabschnitt (Fab), welcher Gegenstand des Kunst-und-Bau-Wettbewerbs war, erfolgt eine großformatige Batteriezellforschung mit drei Fertigungslinien. Im Wettbewerb ging es um die künstlerische Ergänzung des Bauvorhabens Forschungsfertigung Batteriezelle FFB in Münster. Gegenstand der Leistung ist die Weiterentwicklung und die Herstellung des Wettbewerbsentwurfs.
